Papa November‘s She is Transmitter is a four track EP. It is conceptually inspired by the magic and wonder of audio and visual transmissions, particularly the sonic snow of short wave radio, its static blasts and modulated voices.

The EP’s title is a nod to Valerie Thomas, her personal journey into the field of science and her invention, the illusion transmitter, a device that utilises concave mirrors in order to create realistic three dimensional illusions.

Sonically Papa November‘s She is Transmitter is the result of a series of monthly live performances for first fold‘s Bring Out Your Dead events. The material sees Papa November‘s usually self regulated and insular sounds, affected and shaped by the presence and reactions of an audience. The contributions of an expanded line up has also shaped the music, creating a more digestible sound and tempo.

For this release Stuart Tonge is joined by drummer and guitarist Joseph Welden, Ben Sadler of Them Use Them, and Tom Slater, first fold‘s long time recording, post production and mastering guru and member of cult post punk outfit Yeah, Yeah, Noh.
